Today I visited the Diving Locker Museum  in Gloucester, MA.  It is a 
fascinating place tucked away in Gloucester, in the lower level of the 
Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center.  




 

Paul Harling is the owner and operator of this small but full of 
interesting artifacts museum.  Paul is a former science teacher in the

It was quite cold.  The snow kept on falling until past 3:30 pm.

After drinking some water it stood on a plank observing its surroundings.  Now, it had become comfortable with my presence, so, it did not seem bothered that I moved around!!!

The swan hid behind the boats as quickly as it appeared; lucky for me, I was able to take this shot.

This August, I spent 3 days in Iceland.  Not enough time to enjoy the landscape, but long enough for a couple of road trips. Less than an hour ago there was a magnificent lightning storm over Marblehead Neck.  I went out, by the Landing, with the camera hoping to catch as much as I could of the show.  Unfortunately, lightning is unpredictable so, despite being there for about half an hour, I am only left with the 3 images above.  Hope you enjoy them.
Now, at 11:30 pm, the sky is clear as if nothing happened.

I am fascinated with Gloucester, MA.  There is always something interesting to photograph.  During one of my visits to Rocky Point last summer, the weather turned cloudy.  Then it rained a bit.  
As soon as the rain stopped, I noticed the sun trying to peek through the clouds.  I found the contrast of the cloudy skies and the brightly lit boats rather interesting. The "busy" image of the peppers reminded me of another, completely unrelated image of lavender flowers that seems to be the exact opposite, with just a handful of colors..

I recently caught this boat in Marblehead harbor, while it was waiting for its owners who seemed to be quite prepared (water bottle and all) for a day at  sea.

The most important thing is that you have to be on solid ground (or a very large boat -- and I mean like a cruise ship).

Everyone knows that  watering holes are dangerous.  Well, not for everyone, but ... as the red breasted robin found out, that was its last flight to the pond...

The snow had covered everything, and birds had found this pond.  As they were flying towards it, the hawk struck.  She was successful, and took close to an hour to finish her meal.  All while her mate was soaring above her.

Today's full moon was great... What else can I add, other than I almost got into an accident trying to get to the right spot to take the shot? Oh, yes.  I also need to get one of those "artsy-fartsy" pairs of gloves that cover everything but the fingertips.  I almost lost feeling on my fingers trying to set-up the tripod and the camera. I want to start a discussion here.  I suspect that it will go in all sorts of directions, but hell, why not? A few years ago, a friend who paints said that her stuff is art, but photography is not.  I first got offended, then I thought she may have a point.  For me painting is very difficult. I never thought a house could go up in flames so fast...  This was my first time photographing a fire.  It was about 6:30 pm today, so the light was not forgiving.  The firefighters were working hard and would not allow me to get close to the burning house. I had to sneak around them. These guys have one of the most dangerous jobs around... This summer has been a bit busy.  Both from the photography point of view as well as traveling.  I ventured into food photography.  Of course it helps immensely to have the proper equipment.  For instance, this image of the underrated cheeseburger was set up with two strobes and two reflectors.
