Tuna Wars :-)

Long before National Geographic started showing the series "Tuna Wars" I shot this image.  Actually I shot it a couple of years ago.

In case you have not figured it out, these are tuna fish tails nailed to the wall of the building -- the "big" kind of tuna... the ones weighing around 500 lbs (220 kg)

Yes I am watching the series (after all it is about Gloucester) and they show the same wall on every episode!!!

Fast forward to "today"...  This past Saturday, I went to check the wall.  It has changed a bit in only one way.  There are more tails nailed.  More tails, means good catches.  And with an average of $5-8 thousand, for the fisherman, per fish (you've got to love the Japanese), that has to be good !!!

Reflections

You do not need an elaborate computer program or a super expensive camera.  But you really need to "see" it.  So here you have it.

The reflection of the Rudder restaurant in Gloucester Harbor.  The only "photoshopping" done was to convert from color to B&W.  Hope you enjoy it.

From our backyard

The spring is amazing.  All sorts of great flowers. What I enjoy the most is getting close to the flowers, trying to capture the intricacies of their design.
Today I decided to photograph a couple of the Iris flowers. I hope you enjoy them.

The two on top were photographed in the morning.  The third one in early evening.

Raindrops on the rose

I think that the title says it all.  Today we had a light rain that eventually turned to drizzle.  The kind of rain that leaves its drops on the pedals of flowers. So, after covering my camera, I took a couple of shots of the newest addition to our garden.  This is what I came up with.
I hope you enjoy it.

Mississippi's of Roxbury

A couple of weeks ago I was driving in Roxbury, MA and passed by this interesting building that had some great graffiti-type art on the walls.  I figured I had to photograph the art and find out what this place was.  The next day I returned with my gear having discovered that Mississippi's of Roxbury, although once a great place to eat, has now gone out of business.

Well, at least we have the pictures :-)

Another sea related photo

I lined up these fish I just caught while on a trip to Florida.  I think that the various expressions of these otherwise tasty creatures are very funny.
Hope you enjoy it.  Comments are always welcome

Abandoned buildings

I am glad I had the chance to take these pictures of this abandoned building, since it will most likely be significantly redesigned when a new hotel gets built in this location.
